Hi, I’m Lisa Laird. I’ve been a huge lover of animals for as long as I can remember, but some encounters stay with you more than others. This story was born after I had the incredible chance to meet and spend time with two very special kangaroos.

Watching their playful personalities and the bond they shared completely inspired me to bring Kenny and Kayla to life. My hope is that this book captures even a little bit of the magic I felt with them and reminds readers that the greatest treasures in life are the friends who walk (or hop!) beside us.
