John Lamy grew up in a small Midwestern town, alongside his two younger brothers with whom he remains close. A curious and inventive child, he spent his youth building ham radios, hi-fi systems, and other projects that sparked a lifelong passion for engineering.

He went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and built a 30-year career in Silicon Valley, serving as an engineering manager in R&D and later as a divisional quality manager. Midway through his career, John earned an MBA from Cornell and transitioned into management consulting, where he spent 15 years advising organizations.

John and his wife, Gail, have been married for over 50 years. Together, they raised a son and now take great pride in their grandson, currently in college. As a family, they have shared countless adventures—backpacking, skiing, sailing, kayaking, and cycling.

For decades, John has been deeply engaged in climate activism. Today, he is grateful to have the time and energy to dedicate himself to meaningful projects such as this Manifesto.
