A cozy, lyrical children's tale that revels in the wonder of nature, the delight of the changing seasons, and the possibility of magic hidden within.

High on the mountain, where a strong wind blows, a mysterious guardian keeps watch over the forest below. As summer fades, autumn leaves begin to fall, and winter settles over the mountain, he knows there is important work to be done.

Quietly trekking through deep snowdrifts, this elusive creature watches over the animals who call the mountain and forest home. He steers mountain goats away from slick ledges, guides huddled moose to safety, and checks on burrowed rabbits, foxes, and sleeping bears—making sure every creature is warm and tucked in tight through the blustery winter nights.
Who is this mysterious guardian of the mountain and forest below? Whose footprints, rarely seen, are hidden by the snow?

Written in soothing, rhythmic verse and brought to life through breathtaking winter illustrations, High on the Mountain Where a Strong Wind Blows invites young readers into a world of snowy mountains, woodland creatures, and the possibility of magic in the world around us. A comforting bedtime story for ages 3–7 that celebrates the beauty of the natural world and the feeling of being safe, warm, and tucked in tight.
